The 2027 Lexus TZ marks a major step forward for Lexus as the brand enters the growing three-row electric SUV segment. Combining luxury, advanced technology and all-electric performance, the TZ is designed for families and drivers seeking premium comfort without sacrificing efficiency.

With an estimated driving range of up to 300 miles, the new Lexus TZ is positioned to compete directly with the Rivian R1S, Cadillac Vistiq and Volvo EX90.

Inspired by the Lexus Driving Lounge Concept

The TZ evolves from the Lexus Driving Lounge Concept, which focused on creating a spacious, relaxing and modern interior while still delivering an engaging driving experience. Thanks to instant electric torque and standard all-wheel drive, the TZ aims to blend comfort with responsive performance.

Every trim level includes dual-motor AWD, while optional rear-wheel steering improves manoeuvrability in tight spaces and enhances stability at higher speeds. Buyers will also be able to choose between 20-inch and 22-inch wheel designs.

Built on Toyota and Lexus’ proven TNGA platform, the TZ benefits from a structure already used across several successful models in both brands’ lineups.

Two Battery Options and Strong Performance

Lexus plans to offer the TZ with two lithium-ion battery pack options:

  • 77.0 kWh battery
  • 95.8 kWh battery

The brand has also added extra sound insulation throughout the cabin to maintain a quiet and refined ride, especially important in an electric vehicle where road noise is more noticeable without a combustion engine.

Performance estimates suggest the entry-level model could produce around 338 horsepower and 323 lb-ft of torque, delivering a 0–60 mph time of roughly six seconds. Higher-spec variants may generate up to 420 horsepower, allowing acceleration to 60 mph in under five seconds.

Drivers can choose from several drive modes, including:

  • Normal
  • Sport
  • Eco
  • Range
  • Rear Comfort

The Rear Comfort mode is specifically designed to minimise motion discomfort for passengers in the back seats. Regenerative braking includes five adjustable deceleration levels, while Active Sound Control adds synthetic driving sounds during acceleration and braking.

Spacious Interior with Premium Comfort

Inside, the 2027 Lexus TZ focuses heavily on comfort and sustainability. The cabin uses eco-friendly materials such as forged bamboo trim and bio-based microsuede upholstery.

A slim dashboard, low floor design and extended wheelbase help create an open and airy feel throughout the SUV. The panoramic glass roof stretches across all three rows and includes both a power sunshade and opening functionality.

Front and second-row passengers benefit from heated and ventilated seating, while second-row captain’s chairs include power ottomans – a first for Lexus. Third-row seating is designed with sofa-inspired cushioning for improved comfort on longer journeys.

Practicality is also a priority. Features include:

  • One-touch second-row seat movement for easier third-row access
  • Flush seat rails for smoother cabin movement
  • Removable rear centre console
  • Power-folding second- and third-row seats

Advanced Technology and Connectivity

The TZ introduces Lexus’ latest-generation infotainment system, offering faster processing, 5G connectivity and expanded personalisation options.

Technology highlights include:

  • Lexus voice assistant
  • Apple CarPlay compatibility
  • Android Auto compatibility
  • Customisable widgets
  • 21-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system

The SUV is designed to deliver a highly connected and immersive driving experience for both drivers and passengers.

Lexus Safety System 4.0

Safety remains a major focus for Lexus. The TZ comes equipped with Lexus Safety System 4.0, which includes a suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies designed to help prevent collisions and reduce driver fatigue.

Features include systems that can assist with:

  • Steering
  • Braking
  • Acceleration
  • Lane-centering
  • Traffic navigation
  • Collision avoidance alerts and intervention

Tesla Supercharger Compatibility

One of the biggest advantages for U.S. buyers is the inclusion of a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing access to the extensive Tesla Supercharger network.

Lexus also introduces a new 2-in-1 charging port design that places AC and DC charging connectors side-by-side beneath a sliding cover for easier charging access.
